Antonio Banderas Inaugurates Renovated Iberostar Cancun Hotel
After splashing out on a $100 million investment and three months of intensive renovation works in transforming the former Hilton Cancun to represent the values of the Iberostar brand, the newly reopened Iberostar Cancun becomes the company's first ever resort in Cancun, and is set to provide unforgettable experiences to future guests booking luxury all inclusive Cancun holidays at the newly remodelled five-star property.
Iberostar Cancun's official debut took place last week on 3rd February 2012 and opening the celebration of the event were Executive Chairman of Grupo Iberostar Miguel Fluxa, actor and brand ambassador Antonio Banderas, Mexicos Secretary of Tourism Gloria Guevara, Governor of the State of Quinta Roo Roberto Borge, and as many as 30 of Iberostars top-producing U.S. travel agents.
Antonio Banderas, who has in the past also featured in Iberostar commercials and posters and who is now an official Iberostar ambassador was there not only to offer his full support and bring excitment to the new hotel opening but also to express his feelings about Mexico; "Mexico has a very essential place in my heart. There are many, many things that join me to this land, to its people," the actor and producer told reporters attending the inauguration event.
Banderas also added that he wanted to stress the need for job creation and Mexico and spoke of his support in backing this initative. "I am here to add my little grain of sand, so you know I'm on your side," he revealed.
Iberostar closed the now fully converted all-inclusive beachfront property last August in order to carry out full renovation works across public spaces as well as to build a new theater to enhance the quality of Cancun holidays that the resort property could potentially offer to new guests. In addition to this they also opened new restaurants, including a new buffet and four specialty dining venues - a steakhouse, a gourmet restaurant, a Mexican restaurant and a Japanase restaurant.
Newly designed childrens and teens clubs were also constructed for the delight of families planning to spend holidays in Cancun's newest property, as was a new kids splash park in the pool area. Outdoor space at the resorts 12-treatment room spa was also expanded as was the lobby and lobby bar. Adding to the long list of additions, there also are new new palapa-style, thatched umbrellas providing shaded areas for guests on the beach.
One of the few things that remain as they were under Hilton's management are the resorts 50,000-square-feet of convention space as well as 90,000 square feet of event space, both of which remain untouched, making the new Iberostar Cancun the only one in the long list of luxury five-star Cancun hotels boasting oceanfront meeting facilities as well as an on-site 18-hole championship golf course.
Other features at the re-launched property include seven swimming pools, two tennis courts and a professional football field. According to Vice President of Sales and Marketing John Long, plans are also underway for the next year to revamp all guestrooms and hallways leading to accommodations.
