Make a Mini Pastry Board

106 1
Traditional wooden pastry boards with a back and sides, and some with handles, were a mainstay of kitchens until sometime in the 1960's .  Boards like these contained flour and  dough or cookies, and allowed the use of the lower kitchen table as a work surface so you could apply more pressure. I grew up using one of these in my grandmother's kitchen to make her renowned shortbread.
In a miniature display or dollhouse kitchen, the shape of the board helps focus a viewer's eye on a particular piece of a display.

These boards were often sized to store under a kitchen table like a drawer when not in use. In some kitchens they sat at the back of a counter, or hung from the wall.
