If you have been wishing for custom cabinets for a while, then you may already know what you want. There are some things to think about before ordering. If the rest of your home is modern, then cabinetry that is primitive in style is not what would fit your home as it is right now. It will probably take some tweaking to make them fit.

Going with a primitive, aged finish in a brown or a black with a colored undercoat to match the rest of the kitchen might be the perfect finish to hide little handprints. You might also consider additions like a pull-out wastebasket and built-in child locks.
For the higher custom cabinets, it might be okay to continue with your plan for glass fronts. Your kids will not be able to reach them for a while, and by the time they can, they should know better than to leave fingerprints.
Changing things up may seem like a major curveball to your plans. In the end, you will be better off with custom cabinets that match the style of your house and the needs of your family.
