Both dentists and their dental patients are always finding ways that will minimize the pain in a dental procedure.
Patients will be especially thrilled to know that technological advances are paving way for less stressful and dreadful dental procedures.
The treatment of root canals and cavities has to be amongst the most dreaded dental procedures due to the pain and discomfort that is caused.
This has however changed with the adoption of modern dental technology that includes dental laser that has replaced the needles and the drills that were previously used.
Dental laser technology is applied in dental surgery where the laser light absorbs the particular bacteria that causes infection.
These procedures are painless and the patient gets to heal faster.
Root canal therapy has also been less painful with advancements in drilling technologies.
The use of nickel-titanium dental files has made it possible for dentists to use low speed drills that are less stressful to the tooth root.
These drills are not only pain-easing but allow the whole therapy procedure a shorter time, in fact as short as an hour or half hour for just a day.
This is a significant move from the old technology that used a manual drill that caused excruciating discomfort for the patient and required one to come back for three therapies that lasted an hour.
The use of genetic modification to grow teeth is also a remarkable technological advancement in the field of dentistry.
Although the technology has not yet taken pace, it promises to offer an alternative for the painful procedures that are characteristic of cosmetic surgery and dental implants.
Therefore instead of having to undergo these procedures or having to put on synthetic dentures, patients will be able to access healthy genetically created teeth that are grown through the process of genetic modification.
