About.com Rating

Offering another version of "card to impossible place," in Jay Sankey's "Blockbuster," a spectator's selected and signed card appears, nailed, to a block of wood. With this, Sankey offers another solid close-up card effect.

Knock on Wood

This one is best for formal close-up or intimate stand-up shows. I can't see any means to easily carry the block of wood and nail around in strolling situations. The block and nail are ungimmicked and may be examined.

"Blockbuster" comes with a thorough instructional DVD that teaches both intermediate and advanced handlings. The package also includes a nail, envelopes (for a variation on the basic routine), and a cut and sanded block of wood. It's everything that you need.

With the Grain

On the DVD, Sankey teaches you everything that you need to know, however, this trick requires sleight of hand skills that are comparable to those necessary to perform a standard card to pocket or card to wallet. If you're nervous with these effects, this trick is not for you.

"Blockbuster" is something different that can potentially play strong. Personally, for me, I'll stick with card to the pocket and wallet.
