Types of Nose Jobs

  Rhinoplasties, or "nose jobs," are procedures designed to correct any abnormalities or undesirable characteristics in the nasal profile. There are generally two types of surgical rhinoplasties: closed and open. The distinction between closed and open rhinoplasties is attributed to the different surgical approaches used in entering the interior nasal cavity. Another option available to reshape the nose is called the non-surgical nose job.
  
  

Closed Rhinoplasties

• Closed rhinoplasties are characterized by incisions made inside rather than outside of the nose. Specifically, the surgeon enters the nasal cavity via small incisions in the nostril. The surgeon can perform a number of reshaping procedures through these small incisions based on the patient's expectations.
  
  

Open Rhinoplasty

• In open rhinoplasties, the surgeon makes an external incision down the columella, the area of skin separating the nostrils. There is a greater potential for scarring with open rhinoplasties, but the marks are usually relatively inconspicuous. As with closed rhinopasties, surgeons can perform a variety of reshaping procedures in open rhinoplasties.
  
  

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

• Non-surgical rhinoplasties are an alternative for patients interested in making minor changes to the nasal profile without undergoing invasive surgical procedures. These rhinoplasties are use injectable substances and fillers in order to camouflage minor nasal imbalances. Non-surgical rhinoplasties take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
