No new therapeutic agents were approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the acute or prophylactic treatment of migraine.
In addition, relatively few clinical trials involving migraine therapy were completed in 2010. No positive clinical data were reported in 2011 for any novel therapeutic agents.
Moreover, only 2 new agents (one for the acute treatment of migraine and one for migraine prevention) were placed into clinical development in 2011.
