- 1). Scrub with a clean cloth or sponge the surface areas of the bathroom by using soap or detergent and water. Remember to clean the sink area, toilet and tub or shower. This removes the surface dirt which might deter disinfection. Read the label of the cleaning product before beginning.
- 2). Rinse the surface areas with clean water and pat dry.
- 3). Pour 1/4 cup of bleach into a 1 gallon bucket of clean water. Wipe the surface areas of the bathroom with this solution using a cloth or sponge. Make sure to wear your household gloves during this procedure.
- 4). Let the surfaces remain wet for three to five minutes to fully disinfect the bathroom.
- 5). Rinse the bathroom surfaces completely with clean water and let dry.
- 6). Clean all bathroom appliances, such as the hairdryer, with the bleach solution by wiping with a clean cloth and then rinsing.
