Being an Electrician Is Rewarding
Bryan spends his weekdays working as an electrician. He likes the work because it is very straightforward. There is a right way that things will work, and then there is a wrong way. The jobs Bryan likes best are ones that involve older houses, mostly because there are more challenges with older homes than a typical new or fix job. With older houses the regulating codes were not as strict, so there are generally lots of changes that need to be made to bring the house up to current legality.
Bryan is a good electrician, and he really enjoys the work. The company that he works for treats him well, but feels like he is getting severely underpaid. Bryan would not dispute that he is paid a fair and decent wage, but when he sees how much the consumer is paying for his service, he realizes that there is a significant gap between the two.
Lately, Bryan has been thinking about starting his own company. If he could start out as a one man business and grow from there, that would give him the best opportunity for success. There are several things he would need to consider including insurance, finding an office, supplies, what he would charge, and getting customers.
While hanging out with his friends over the weekend, Bryan told them about his plans. They were encouraging and helpful. One of them who works as a housing developer said he was always looking for an electrician and he would give Bryan projects as they came along. This will be a great start to Bryan's independent business. Hopefully, the business will grow steadily as he meets more people and gains clients, and Bryan could still enjoy his weekends. Bryan certainly did not mind working hard during the week, and relished the weekend with friends, relaxation, and football.
