How to Care for Solid Wood Dining Tables

Solid wood dining tables can bring elegance and beauty to any dining room they are in. The wood is durable and, if combined with proper caring, can be kept as new and enjoyed for years. Solid wood tables are expensive, so it is extremely important to know how to take care of the dining tables.

1. Keep the table out of the direct sunlight. The sunlight will age the dining table. If the entire table is not under the sunlight, you will see that the side that exposed in the sunlight appears lighter than the other areas of the dining table. If your dining room is not large enough, you can keep the blinds closed around the table and keep a piece of dining table cloth covered over it.

2. Solid wood dining table should be kept away from all the heating outlets and fireplaces. The heat may crack the wood of the table.

3. If the weather is too dry or too humid, the solid wood table may crack. You'd better place a humidifier or de humidifier to make sure the table is kept in a stable humidity.

4. Cover the dining table with a piece of glass or use non-scratching coasters when placing drinks, dishes and glasses on the table. These are going to help preventing water stains, oil stains and any damages.

Solid wood dining tables are pricy, however when I compare it with the veneer furniture in my house. I find that it is worthy of choosing solid wood tables. If you can take good care of the solid wood dining table, it will last for many years.
