Do You Or Do You Not? Is Holy Matrimony Truly Bliss?

103 2
I attended a wedding in Italy last week.
The Ceremony was held in a little Italian town not too far from Naples.
It was absolutely beautiful and was performed on a large roof terrace which was beautifully decorated overlooking the sea and mountains.
The bride was picturesque in a Cinderella style ivory wedding gown and a huge smile permanently planted across her face...
the way most brides should look.
This got me thinking though back to previous weddings I have attended.
One in particular stands out because the bride looked like someone had ridden over her puppy.
The wedding itself was extravagant and quite a lot of fun, but the couple seemed to be missing something.
It was also uncomfortable meeting them as a group for drinks the day after because they appeared to be arguing.
Now I can analyse that situation all I want, but the truth is that it is their life to do with what they wish and there could have been a number of unfortunate circumstances surrounding the wedding that could have made the bride so unhappy.
I only hope that their sadness was not a sign of things to come.
This brings me to my point..

why do people get married? For that matter why do they get divorced? I think most people are truly in love (or at least think they are) when they do decide to wed, but you will also find that a lot of people rush into it, or have doubts that they do not communicate to their partners.
The planning may be too far gone and people could be afraid of calling off a wedding as they stand to lose a lot of money or hurt a lot of people.
Whatever the reason, there will always be people who get married because they feel that they have to and not because they truly want to.
Let's look at some of the right reasons, and some of the wrong reasons to get married...
Wrong Reasons: •Because of Pregnancy •To Fulfil a Dream of a White Wedding •Because You are Scared That You Will Never Find Anyone Else •You Think That Your Biological Clock is Ticking •You Marry For Money •You Marry on a Whim Because it Must be Love •Because Everyone Else is Getting Married •Because He or She is Good to You and Your Parents of Friends Like Them Right Reasons: •You Know Everything About Your Partner and Love Them Regardless •Your Need to Make Your Partner Happy Exceeds Your Own Needs •You Have Known Your Partner Long Enough to be Sure That You Want To Spend The Rest of Your Life With Them •You May Have Similar or Different Life Goals, but are Willing and Want to Support Each Other Regardless •You Already Want to be There Through Sickness and In Health, for Better or for Worse Without Needing to Say it In Front of a Priest If someone only ticks off one of the wrong reasons, then that is enough to hold off any wedding.
However they need to tick off all of the right reasons before even contemplating the idea.
