    • Since 1974, Yamaha has been producing its flagship motocross dirt bike, the YZ125. It is a popular model among dirt bike racers and competitors because of its aluminum frame and wide power band. Yamaha has produced a new model of the YZ125 every year since its introduction. The YZ125 is designed strictly for off-road use and is not intended to be registered and used as an on-road vehicle or regular motorcycle.

    Engine and Transmission

    • The YZ125's 124 cc engine has been a key feature throughout its lifetime because it keeps the bike qualified for competition classes that have engine-size restrictions. The two-stroke liquid-cooled engine has a bore of 54 mm and a stroke of 54.5 mm with a 38 mm carburetor. Its six-speed manual transmission controls the chain-based drivetrain.

    Handling and Braking

    • Impacts to the inverted front fork are handled by a speed-sensitive, adjustable system that can provide up to 11.8 inches of travel. The rear suspension is composed of a sole adjustable titanium shock offering 12.4 inches of travel and separate adjustments for high-speed and low-speed damping. Dunlop racing-specification tires are standard equipment on the factory 21-inch front wheel and 19-inch rear wheel. The dirt bike's braking system is made up of front and rear disc brakes featuring a single disc at each end. The front disc measures 250 mm while the rear measures 245 mm.

    Weight and Size

    • Overall length of the YZ125 is 84.1 inches with a wheelbase of 56.8 inches. Its seat height is 39.3 inches. The bike provides 15.2 inches of ground clearance and has a width of 32.6 inches. When its 2.1-gallon fuel tank is filled, it has a total curb weight of 208 pounds.
