Before one can set out to adopt a monkey as a pet it is worthwhile knowing that there are major problems associated with having a monkey as a pet.
A common monkey pet problem owners have with their pets is that they have to give them maximum attention.
Monkeys are agile and can be extremely destructive in a domestic setting.
If you live and work in the city, it is almost impossible for you to adopt this kind of pet.
Owners of the monkey pet have to be vigilant about their food, their clothing, and pricey items in the house as these can all go to a loss following a monkey rampage.
Health issues are a problem to be taken into account if one wishes to take up a monkey as a pet.
Those who already have these as pets are exposed to the risk of zoo diseases.
Many monkeys carry the virus Herpes B that is indeed fatal to humans.
It also runs both ways such humans can also affect their monkey pets when they have cold sores, small monkeys have been known to die from this.
Another monkey pet problem is that they are aggressive enough not just to destroy household furniture but also to cause physical harm.
Although some monkey pets can be docile, others do bite from the irritation of being deprived a relationship with its fellow monkeys.
