Don’t misunderstand the effects of a piano move
The main reason for this is the humidity in the air changes. It is not the move that has affected the piano, rather it is the moisture in the air. In order for your piano to adjust to its new climatic conditions, you will need to give it some time, anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Only then should you get into tuning it again.
Once you have your piano moved, the pedals are one place you have to look over carefully. Professionals will not allow anything to go wrong here. What you have to look out for is if the leather or pieces of cardboard that is in the trapwork is removed or not. These tend to fall out when the lyre has been moved. Also pedal rods need to be checked for their order.
Since the rods are not equally sized, their slots can be interchangeable. Most professional moving companies have piano technicians handy whom you can turn to for a look at your pedals. Professional movers will also know to leave the lyre braces on the grand piano.
What you should keep in mind before making a move is that the climate of the new place you are headed to should not be in complete contrast to the one your piano is used to. If its been in a cool region for a relatively long period of time, it cannot be ideally moved to a warmer location. The durability of the piano will be completely destroyed.
When it comes to the grand piano always make sure that the key rail stop has been mounted behind the keys, it will then ensure that they remain safe and within. All professional piano movers will be able to be prepared to do this if you let them know in advance. If one of keys does fall off, the professional can take care of it.
