Question: When is the best time to visit Kentucky?

I'm in New Jersey, but will be coming down in the spring. When is the best time to visit your state, when do the bugs start getting real bad, when is the best time to get crawfish?

Answer:

April is an excellent time to enjoy Kentucky; school isn't out yet, nor are the bugs. The temperatures are mild and the humidity hasn't started yet. Crawfish are usually biggest in late summer, but there are more to find in late spring, early summer.

The largemouth bass are the catch in April, and Kentucky has many great parks with lakes to accommodate you.

Looking for a Kentucky destination? Consider the Daniel Boone National forest area, or Land Between the Lakes. Here's some features I wrote that may give you some ideas.

Check out the photos on this page for Cave Run Lake, where my wife and I went in the Fall. It's in Daniel Boone NF too, and it's beautiful, remote, and has lots of wildlife and scenery.
