Treating The Problem of Body Lice

103 1
Body lice is a type of lice that can live on humans and thrive under human temperatures and conditions.
When one is found to be infected with lice, anti-lice shampoos and lice combs are used to dredge them out.
How does a person get body lice? Human beings that have a poor bodily hygiene normally have lice on them and it is spread by direct contact with another human being.
The more unhygienic a person is, the more chances of body lice being found on them.
While body lice leads to intense scratching and itching, it has been known to act as carriers to other sickness like typhoid fever, trench fever, relapsing fever and more.
Lice is also present in areas that are very unsanitary like prisons, war camps, and places where conditions prevent human bathing.
The life cycle of the body lice comes in three stages or forms.
The first is the egg stage, then the nymph, and finally the adult.
Nits (lice eggs) or the egg lice are easy to spot when looking through the hidden places or seams in ones clothing.
They can most be found at the waistline area or under the armpits section.
Sometimes they may be attached to body hair.
These nits are colored yellow and sometimes white.
They are oval shaped and the nits take one to two weeks to hatch.
The nymph is a lice that has hatched prematurely from the nit (egg).
It looks like an adult but smaller.
It take a nymph to grow to an adult in nine to twelve days.
To survive, it must feed on blood.
The adult lice is the size of a sesame seed.
It is tan-white and has legs sticking out of it.
Female adults lay eggs and must feed off blood to live.
Adult lice that fall off a human host die in the normal room temperature.
Body Lice Treatment While improving a persons personal hygiene is a good start, regular showers must be taken (at least weekly).
Clean clothes and clean bedding should replace the dirty ones.
The dirty beddings should be washed thoroughly and run through a hot cycle to kill any trace of lice.
A person can also be treated for lice by use of a pediculicide (a piece of equipment that can kill lice) but this is not needed provided the persons hygiene is drastically improved.
The delousing process can be quickly achieved by boiling all clothes and the sleeping or bedding that have been infected at a very high temperature.
Boiling them at a temperature of 130 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes would suffice.
Unworn clothes for a week that have lice would kill them.
The easiest way is to indulge in daily bathing and frequent washing of ones clothes.
