Gulburga, one of the most loved tourist destination famous not only for its cultural tradition, but also for the vast and diverse history of India.  It is an ideal place for the devotees and history lovers alike with the saturated temples and tombs as well as the historical villages.  Located 663 km away from Bangalore, Gulbarga was the birth place of Purandara Dasa, a renowned poet and a great philosopher.  Well connected to Bijapur, efforts are going on to develop this attractive destination into a holistic one.

 A number of Budhist Stupas can be found in Sannathi, which date back to times of the rule of the Satvanhas.  Divine art is depicted within the vicinity which shows the birth of Lord Buddha, the painting of the tree of enlightenment as well as the foot print of Buddha.  An instance of Maratha style of architecture is Sharana Basaveshwara temple which houses the Samadhi of the reformer and the Saint.  The carvings of the animals and flowers in the interiors and the architecture of the facades made the temple to be known as the epicentre of the Dashoa culture.  Among the several Jain basadis along the bank of the Bhima River, Jevargu is the popular Jain pilgrim centre in Gulburga.  Thousands of devotees are attracted to Humnabad, 52 kms from Bidar at the time of Veerabhadreshwara Jatra.  Constructed in the traditional Kerala architectural style is the Chandralamba temple with numerous mini mandir's and a large courtyard.

A good collection of nearly 1000 books on literature and that to in different languages is available in the Dargah Library, an ideal place for those who like to be with manuscripts and books.  Krishna River is cascaded down in to the Narayanpura Dam.  Beautiful Jaladurga Waterfalls is set amidst the lush green vegetation.  A prominent tourist attraction near the confluence of River Bhima and River Amarja is the Sangam Kshetra.  Located in the vicinity of Sangham is the Ash Hill, where ash came out of the hill after the meditation of Lord Parashurama.

Retaining the historic charm and the confluence of the traditions and culture, Gulburga is still filled with stately buildings and beautiful mosques as well as the bazaars exert a pull on the mind of tourists to visit the place again and again.
