How to Grow Passiflora Caerule
- 1). Purchase a suitably sized planting container for the passiflora caerulea. Ideally the container should be large enough to allow maximum root growth but not so large that you cannot transport the container indoors over winter.
- 2). Mix together a good quality potting mix with about one-third the amount of crushed brick. Crushed brick will retain warmth during cooler months, which helps when growing a passiflora caerulea.
- 3). Place the growing container for the passiflora caerulea in a location where there is full sun. A good location is along a south-facing wall such as along one side of your house.
- 4). Fill the container approximately 5/8 full with a good quality planting mix. Saturate the planting mix with water, letting it drain away full before proceeding.
- 5). Insert a trellis or wire hoop into the growing container. Make sure it's placed toward the back of the container where it will provide a support system for the passiflora caerulea to grow on.
- 6). Turn the container the passiflora caerulea is currently growing in upside down. Use a trowel, or a small block of wood and tap along the rim of the container until you can feel it loosen from the roots. Slide the container free from the root system.
- 7). Set the passiflora caerulea on top of the soil in the container. Scoop soil into the container around the entire plant until the container is filled with soil.
- 8). Mix together 1 to 2 tbsp. of 5-10-10 transplant solution plus root stimulator plant food into 1 gallon of water. Water the passiflora caerulea with approximately one gallon of water. Give the passiflora caerulea deep bi-weekly waterings during the summer growing season. Water when the soil feels dry when touched at a depth of about 2 to 3 inches. Provide enough water to moisten the soil to a depth of 8 to 10 inches.
