Paralyzed by a UFO

It was the summer of 1952 (June or July) as I was on summer vacation from school. This was a Sunday morning. My father and I were sitting on the stoop of our house (we then lived in Greenbelt, Maryland, old defense housing near Ft. Meade). I had the radio on a rock 'n' roll station, just sitting, talking about miscellaneous. things. It was a partly cloudy morning.

All of a sudden, a very bright object went flying right across the sky above us.

In and out of the cloud cover. Then we heard the sound of jets coming (either Sabers or Starfishes] flying after this bright object. We turned and looked at each other in awe. Needless to say, this was the topic of many of a breakfast, lunch and dinner. (I can't remember if it made the papers or not.)

Second story was told to me by my mother. It was 1943. My mom and dad lived in North Carolina. My mom was in the civil defense. She was assigned to shoreline observation, both air and sea. She was on duty one night, 12-6 a.m. She was at her post alone. Usually there were two people at a time, but her partner had gone to get coffee. All of a sudden, a bluish-white beam (not light) engulfed her whole position. She couldn't move, but was aware of what was happening. This only lasted maybe a couple of minutes, then it was gone. There was no physical or mental effect. She never told anyone except dad, her mom and me.
