How to Get Rid of Algaecide Stains
- 1). Fill the sock half-full of the powdered mineral stain remover. Pack the powder into the sock and rubber-band the sock shut just above the bottom. Use another rubber band to fix the sock to the end of the pole.
- 2). Place the sock on top of an algaecide stain for 15 minutes. This will let the powder set on the stain and start to loosen it up. Use the pole to hold the sock in place, even if you are cleaning the bottom or side of the pool.
- 3). Rub the sock at the end of the pole over the stain. The stain should start lifting as you scrub. Supplement the sock with the long-handled scrub brush until the stain is gone.
- 4). Treat all the algaecide stains in your pool, using this method. You may want to assemble multiple sock-and-pole combinations so that you can treat more than one stain at a time.
