Luanda - not only is this the capital of Angola, it is also considered to be the heat of the country. Not only is Luanda the largest city within the country of Angola, it is also situated in the Atlantic Coast which has formed the way for it to be one of the fastest growing tourist hotspots in this area. Just one of the reasons that Luanda has become so popular is the photography opportunities - visitors love the breathtaking scenery it has to offer especially on the coast and has become a favorite spot for many looking for African photos or photos of Angola.
It doesn't matter whether you are young, old, travelling with a family or alone, Luanda in Angola really does have something to offer everyone. Many a tourist has fallen in love with the area, coming back time after time to enjoy and explore the breathtaking scenery and the friendly people that live in the capital. It has been said that on top of the increasing tourist numbers here, over four hundred thousand people live in Luanda and the investment Angola opportunities within this area for the tourism industry has done wonders for the once war torn country.
One of the things, alongside the great photo opportunities and breathtaking scenery of course, that has caused many visitors to flock to Luanda is the climate. Beautiful tropical temperatures combined with white sandy beaches are the perfect places to sit and watch the sunset and rise and the wonderful locals really make this town a place that you will certainly want to call home! One of the places that you must certainly visit is just 10km south of the capital in a place called Mussolo. This is a strip of around 50km that lays just along the coast of Angola leading from Luanda itself and is one that many people have found to be a beautiful part of the country and a place definitely worth visiting.
One thing that you may notice about the town of Luanda, (and one thing that will certainly make you want to bring your camera to take photos of Luanda too) is the construction of many of the buildings. Most of the constructions in the capital follow a colonial style with bursts of colors but nestled alongside these you will find a number of modern buildings which create quite the contrast.
As a final note, one of the places that you should visit while in Luanda, Angola is the old Portuguese fort that was built in the 16th century. This is a great historical venue within the city and has been the heart of many photos of Luanda and Angola as a whole especially when you consider the recently ended civil war.
