    Baking Soda

    • 1). Mix baking soda with water. Mix it so it is like a paste in consistency.

    • 2). Apply the mixture onto the rusted area of your Toyota's truck bed.

    • 3). Let the mixture sit for a short time. When the rust has loosened sufficiently, it should be easily scrubbed off. You might need extra applications to remove the rust entirely.

    Industrial Chemicals

    • 1). Examine the rust closely to determine what kind of rust remover is best suited for the task before choosing a product. Keep in mind that industrial products vary greatly in their composition. Some might have strong corrosive properties, while others might have little corrosive properties.

    • 2). Read the rust removal product's directions carefully.

    • 3). Apply and use the product as directed by the manufacturer's directions.

    Power Sander

    • 1). Place the flat of the sanding wheel onto the rusted area. Grind down the area for a few seconds at a time. This will remove both rust and paint from the vehicle.

    • 2). Sand down the area with sandpaper after using the grinding wheel.

    • 3). Apply a solvent to the area to further break down any remaining rust.

    • 4). Wipe the area clean after the solvent is removed. If the truck bed was painted, apply a new coat of paint where the grinder removed it.
