Early Signs of HPV
- Genital warts are an early indication of HPV. Warts can take on many different shapes and sizes. They can appear weeks or months after sexual contact with an affected person.
- Warts may also appear on the soles of your feet, under your fingernails, around your cuticles or on your arms and face. The HPV strand that causes warts does not cause cancer.
- Infected women will show early signs of having contracted the disease with an abnormal Pap smear, for both high-risk and low risk types of HPV. Due to the abnormality, your doctor may then decide to perform a DNA test to see if the strand of serious concern.
- Signs and symptoms of cervical cancer include bleeding from the vagina, a change in your menstrual cycle you cannot explain, bleeding when something comes in contact with your cervix, pain during sex and/or a vaginal discharge full of blood.
- As of now, there is no overall HPV test.
