Diwali - Festival Of Lights

Diwali also known as "Festival of Lights," Diwali is one of the biggest festivals of Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism. It has several different causes of party, and it usually occurs between mid October and mid November.

Also known as Deepawali, Diwali literally means a "battery of lights", which is "row of Diyas".

History

Rituals

This festival is celebrated for five good days and five days in India is quite ready for festive and fun.

The festival begins on 'Dhanteras'. This day is believed to bring prosperity and well-being of the business. Most of the Indian company starts the year on this date.

The following day, known as "Naraka Chaturdasi". Today marks the victory of good over evil, and this is one of the most significant of all the five days of celebration. This day is generally known as 'Chota Diwali'.

The third day is "Amavasya", the most important day, which is a 'Diwali'. This day is celebrated by worshiping the goddess Lakshmi, who is the goddess of wealth and Lord Ganesha.

The fourth day is known as the "Kartika Shudda Padyami", is the king of Bali took the reins of his new kingdoms.

The last day is known as "Yama Dvitiya." It is famously known as 'Bhai Dooj'. It was the day sisters invite their brothers to the feast and celebration.
