Hawaii"s Many Landscapes
But as expected for a tropical Island in the middle of the pacific ocean, my current residence in central Oahu is lush and green with rolling hills and medium sized mountain tops in the near distant.
We average about 20 inches of rain every year and some mornings will wake up to a foggy drive to work while making it out of my regional area.
Just a few miles down the road toward the ewa plains which was once farm and swamp land and now vastly becoming Oahu's next big city, you will find desert like conditions with temperatures soaring in the high nineties on average and over 100 in the hot summer.
Such a dramatic change in climate between locations that are only 5 miles apart make you wonder what part of hawaii you have experienced while visiting or residing.
My early childhood years had me living on the North side of Oahu where the winds were gusty and the ocean pounded on the sea shore during winter swells.
Because of the rough ocean waves combined with onshore winds our appliances and automobiles usually rusted away fairly quickly in the salty environment not to mention the already high levels of humidity that comes with living on an island.
My current town in central Oahu rust is not a factor at all.
On the north shore of Oahu there is only one road and that takes you every where you need to go, there is no alternate route when the road shuts down due to an accident or construction work.
But this is what country living is all about and many would not trade it for the world.
It is a slower life that is depicted well and accurate on a website called www.
NorthShore.
com.
Hawaii has many more exotic and different types of landscape that a trip to the islands is well worth just for the viewing pleasure.
