Understanding the Schedule of the World Cup 2014
The beginning of the championship is on the 12th of June and the ending on the 13th of July, this year. This means that avid football fans have about a month to enjoy their favorite teams or national representative. The location of the games is set for each stage of the Cup and is within a stadium of the host country. In 2014, hosting the cup is Brazil, a little bit unusual because the event was generally hosted by more than one country, eight or ten to be precise. However, due to its vast territory and availability of stadiums at international standards, Brazil was chosen as the sole organizer for the second time. In all, a number of 12 cities are designated to house matches from the groups to the grand finale and some of them even built courts from scratch in order to be prepared for the massive number of visitors, tourists and spectators in the arenas. There are 32 teams at the beginning, divided into eight groups. Out of these, the winners carry on to the quarterfinals and semi-finals, where the pressure begins to rise.
The competition starts with the confrontation between Brazil and Croatia in Sao Paolo, at 17.00 on the 12th of June. Further on, on Friday the 13th of the same month, three matches will be taking place in Salvador, Natal and Cuiaba. On the first weekend day of the tournament, two more games follow putting the teams of England and Italy face to face, as well as those of Uruguay and Costa Rica. The following days up to the 17th include three matches each and so on until the end of the groups, on the 26th of June. The challenges in the quarter finals take place after the round of 16 matches, which is held between the 28th of June and the 1th of July. The semi-finals are held on the 8th and 9th of July and, last but not least, the World Cup Final can be seen in Rio de Janeiro on the 13th of July.
