What is Website Traffic?

Website traffic, also known as web traffic or simply traffic is a measurement of the amount of visitors that a certain website gets.
By the amount of traffic you get, you can tell just how popular your web page is at the moment.
You can also learn a lot of things about your visitors.
How do you know if your website traffic is good? There are programs (code) that you can download and add to your web page that keep track of your visitors.
These counters can tell you a lot about the visitors that you get.
For example, they can tell you their IP, what state or country they are from, how long they have stayed at your website, how many times that have clicked and on what links, what browser they are using (Opera, Internet Explorer, Firefox, or another), were they referred by a search engine, and if they were what keywords did they type in the search box to find your site.
There are plenty of counters online that you can download and use in your website in order to track your visitors.
Some of them are free and for others you have to pay a monthly fee.
Generally speaking, if you only need to know how many visitors your web page has every day you don't need to pay for a fancy counter.
One of the good free counters is Google Analytics.
The only thing you might not like about it is that the information is updated once a day.
