The Truth About Lying in a Relationship

"The truth isn't pure and barely simple" recounted Oscar Wilde. Maybe, that's what makes lying in a relationship that common. Unfortunately, it does not make it OK.

Lying in a relationship is a difficulty of almost all couples. Every couple arrives at a point where one partner tells untruths about something: it may be an irrelevant lie that is meant to prevent the other partner from discontent or a significant lie that may kill the trust in the relationship, if revealed. Regardless, relationship based mostly on half-truths and premeditated intents of deception isn't a satisfying and happy one.

But in what way do you deal with lying in a relationship? Is there a method to reveal the truth and handle no matter what the problem comes to light without sacrificing the whole of your relationship? Here are several tips:

- Detect the deception. If you happen to feel your partner isn't being quite honest with you, you will need to be certain your suspicion is correct. There are various ways to detect dishonesty but the most straightforward way to recognize lying in a relationship is to watch out for the non-verbal signs of lying. Non-verbal behaviour, or body language, rarely if ever lies. According to psychological specialists, shorter responses, speech screw ups, a lot of um's, er's or oh's, frequent blinking and agitation are all non-verbal signs revealing that a person is lying.

- Discover the truth. If your suspicion is correct, i.e. your partner is truly lying to you, you need to try to find out the truth. The simplest way to achieve that's by talking to them. The general public find discussing such a problem with their romantic partner very difficult. It is natural and normal reaction: nobody is eager to discover a truth that may potentially hurt them. But in order to overcome lying in a relationship, you need to ask all the questions. Speak with your companion calmly and do not turn the conversation into a cross-examination. Do your best to figure out what the truth really is and the reason why your loved one had the necessity to deceive you.

- Rebuild trust. Hence you have discovered that your other half has been dishonest and you've figured out the reasons why this had occurred. The next step to resolving the problem's to make sure this never occurs again. To paraphrase, the two of you need to aim towards rebuilding the trust that was initially in your relationship. This means that your better half hass to swear they can never lie to you again and you'll have to look into your behavior and make sure you don't incite them to lie again.

dealing with lying in a relationship isn't easy and sometimes may be quite annoying. However, the proven fact that you have caught your better half in a lie does not imply your relationship has to finish. Handle the problem quietly and with dignity and try to work it out.
