Paula Deen Home from Universal Furniture presents yet another collection. The River House collection features finishes with a subtle sheen along with easy, fluid lines. This time the inspiration comes from the history and way of life around the Savannah River.
The collection features a variety of finishes along with cherry veneers, aged metal accents and oiled bronze hardware along with highly textured fabrics and some rattan.
Finishes include:
- River Bank: a rich deep brown with low sheen
- River Boat: a lightly textured painted finish in white with gray rub-through
- Oyster Shell: gray, used for accents on certain pieces to give added depth
In her previous collections, Paula Deen has based some of her designs on her own furniture, and this one is no exception. Featured here, a pair of Boat House chairs in rattan, based on chairs from Paula Deen's own Savannah Boat House.
River House Dining Table and Chairs
A table that can comfortably seat eight at 80"W x 46"D x 31"H, the River House Dining Table has a surface that can hold a feast. The heavy curved rectangular top has a step-down edge, shaped apron and patterned veneer top. It also features also features turned legs.
Also shown here are Paula’s wingback Host and Hostess Chairs with a textured nubby fabric that contrasts with a soft, linen-like fabric and exposed wood arms and legs.
The River House Side Chair is a ladderback chair.
River House Kitchen Table
The River House Kitchen Table is a narrow table that can fit in smaller spaces at 72"W x 34"D x 30"H. The Kitchen Chair with a tie-on seat cushion complements it nicely. Also featured here is the generously sized Paula’s Best Dishes Pantry, named after one of her most popular shows. The tall arched glass doors frame shelves and six drawers with scalloped-shaped fronts.
River House Kitchen Island
The counter height Kitchen Island is a functional piece of furniture providing a stainless steel work surface, along with a pullout table, and plenty of room for storage. Dimensions: 54"W x 30"D x 37"H.
River House Pantry Rack
While it is called a Pantry Rack, this piece can be used in many rooms. It can also double as a book shelf or room divider. The Pantry Rack was inspired by a piece in Paula’s home and features simple shelves on a frame with wood peg accents.
Earl's Cabinet
This two-piece cabinet was named for Paula's father, and has a well worn look, as though it has been there for years.
Earl’s Cabinet features a slanted pull-down desk, shown open here. The desk opens to expose more drawers. There is plenty of storage with drawers on both sides. These have numbered medallions and round oiled bronze knobs.
Family Organizer Desk
Every home needs an organizer, and the Family Organizer Desk can fill that slot nicely. It consist of a counter-height desk and hutch, and features shelves and drawer storage. Shelves behind doors help to hide clutter, and a corkboard at eye-level when sitting down helps with organizing tasks. The doors also feature a chalkboard finish inside.
Writing Table
The Writing Table with simple, clean lines features a wood top that rests on metal sawhorse legs with shelves at the bottom. Three drawers are also placed under the work surface. And in case you are wondering, the metal baskets are included.
The table can be used in a variety of settings. Dimensions: 62"W x 30"D x 30"H.
The Guest Room Bed
A gunmetal finish distinguishes this metal bed from Paula Deen's collection. It also has Jenny Lind style bobbin spindles. This is the Guest Room Bed.
Peeking from the side is the Bobbin Side Table which is available in any of the three finishes from the collection. The table has a round top and a scalloped apron.
Low Post Bed
Paula Deen's Low Country Day Bed is very similar to her Guest Room Bed. This is also a metal bed in a gunmetal finish and features Jenny Lind-style bobbin spindles. It has an arched headboard.
The Family Room Table
The Low Post Bed has an arched headboard and footboard with upholstered panels. The heavily textured fabric is accented with decorative gimp and spaced tacks.
The three-drawer Bedside Chest has serpentine shaping that is found in several other pieces in the collection.
The Family Room Table shares the same functionality with an earlier table but this one has a serpentine square top and bun feet. A lift-top on one side and two storage drawers on the other make this a highly functional table.
There is also a similarly shaped End Table with a single drawer. You also see the Bobbin Side Table here in a different finish.
