    • 1). Plug your microphone into either your computer sound card's microphone jack, or an available USB jack, depending on the model microphone you have available. If necessary, install drivers for the USB microphone.

    • 2). Open Windows Sound Recorder by clicking "Start," typing "Sound Recorder" into the search field, then selecting "Sound Recorder" from the left-hand column of your computer screen. The Sound Recorder user interface will now appear.

    • 3). Click the "Start Recording" button with your computer mouse and begin speaking. Click "Stop Recording" when you have completed recording your voice.

    • 4). Type in the name for the audio file into the "Name" field on the pop-up window, then click "Save" to store it to your computer's hard drive. Click the "X" in the top-right corner of the Sound Recorder user interface to close the application.
