How to Replant Easter Lilies in East Tennessee
- 1). Hold the bottom of the plant in one hand and the pot in the opposite hand. Tilt the pot and gently wiggle the plant until it loosens from the pot and can be removed.
- 2). Select a sunny location with good drainage. Use a garden spade to dig a hole 3 to 6 inches deep (depending on the size of the bulb) and set the plant bulb into the hole. Create an additional mound of soil 3 inches above the soil line. Generously water the plant.
- 3). Spread mulch 2 inches deep around the base of the Easter lily to keep the roots cool.
- 4). Remove the leaves as they die. Cut the stem back to the soil line in the fall and keep covered with mulch. New growth will start in the spring.
