2003 Hyundai Tiburon Specifications
- Introduced to the U.S. market with the 2003 model, the Tiburon is Hyundai's subcompact sport coupe that was redesigned in 2003 with sleeker styling, a V-6 engine and a new chassis, called the GK. The car had a base and GT V-6 trimline that had a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $16,249 to $18,599.
- The car came with either a 2-liter, 134-horsepower, inline four-cylinder engine that displaced 1,975 cubic centimeters, or a 2.7-liter, 170-hp V-6 engine that displaced 2,656 cc. Available transmissions were a four-speed automatic overdrive, and a five- or six-speed manual overdrive. This gave it a torque of either 132 foot-lbs. at 4,500 revolutions per minutes or 181 foot-lbs. at 4,000 rpm.
- The vehicle got a combined 20 miles per gallon, with 17 in the city and 24 on the highway, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. This was for the 2.7-liter, six-cylinder engine with a five-speed, manual transmission.
- This two-door sedan measured 173 inches long by 69.3 inches wide by 52.3 high, with a wheelbase of 99.6 inches and a curb weight ranging from 2,940 lbs. with a manual transmission to 3,041 lbs. in the automatic. The turning diameter was 35.8 feet.
- The car seats four and had front measurements of 38 inches for headroom, 43 inches for legroom, 53.9 inches for shoulder room and 51.6 inches for hip room. In the rear, measurements were 34.4 inches for headroom, 29.9 inches for legroom, 50.6 inches for shoulder room and 44.7 inches for hip room.(REFERENCE 5)
- For safety, the Tiburon was equipped with power door locks, power windows, a vehicle anti-theft system and keyless entry. Airbags existed for the driver front and side and for the passenger. Standard exterior features included fog lights, a front air dam, alloy wheels, interval wipers, rear wiper and rear window defogger. Interior features included air conditioning, cruise control and tachometer, tilt steering and radio with CD.
