How to Hang Flock Wallpaper
- 1). Remove old wallpaper, nails and switch plates from your walls. Clean dust, grease and grime from walls with a mixture of 6 parts water and 1 part ammonia.
- 2). Apply one coat of wall covering primer to the walls and allow it to dry.
- 3). Measure the height of the wall you are wallpapering. Cut one strip of flock wallpaper at a time and lay it on a clean work table.
- 4). Spread a thin layer of translucent non-staining wallpaper adhesive to the surface area you are working on.
- 5). Paste one sheet of flock wallpaper at a time.
- 6). Place your straightedge on the finished edges of the wall paper - do not press directly on the wall covering. Trim any excess paper with your utility knife.
- 7). Press the paper to the adhesive with the flat side of the smoothing brush. Tap the brush against the seams instead of rolling to avoid damaging the flock.
- 8). Line the seams up beside each other leaving no gaps when you add your second strip of flock wallpaper.
- 9). Repeat these steps with each strip of flock wallpaper until you've covered the room or accent wall.
