How to Paint the Bike Shed

104 1
    • 1). Rub 100-grit aluminium oxide sandpaper all around the inside and outside of the bike shed, wherever you plan to apply paint. Use a step stool to help you reach all the surfaces. This type of sandpaper is suitable for metal and wood and will help you open up the pores in these materials to better receive the paint. Dust off the interior and exterior of the shed with a rag.

    • 2). Using a paint roller and pan, apply oil-based primer to the entire shed, inside and outside. Allow the primer to dry completely.

    • 3). Again using a paint roller and pan, apply white paint to the top and underside of the bike shed's roof. Allow it to dry, then apply a second coat.

    • 4). Paint the interior and exterior of the shed's sides with a second color. Allow it to dry and add a second coat.

    • 5). Walk around the bike shed looking at corners or other areas that could use more paint here and there. Use a nylon paintbrush to touch up the areas in need.
