iPod Will Not Connect to the CD-IB100
- 1). Verify the iPod software version. The CD-IB100 only supports iPod's using software prior to the 2004-10-20 update (or the update made available on Oct. 10, 2004). Power on the iPod and select "Settings" from the main menu. Select "About" and the software version will be listed.
- 2). Connect the iPod to the CD-IB100 adapter. Insert the smaller end of the CD-IB100's iPod cable into the compatible port on the adapter. Insert the other end of the cable into the dock connector on the bottom of the iPod.
- 3). Play the iPod through the head unit. Press the "Source" button on the head unit and select "iPod" as the source. Select "Band/ESC" to begin controlling the iPod. Select either "Function" or "Multi-Control," and select the arrow buttons to choose a playlist or song.
- 4). Control the iPod's temperature. If you have placed the CD-IB100 adapter in the trunk of the car, or another area that is exposed to extreme temperatures, don't leave the iPod connected to the unit when it is not being used. Connect the iPod to the unit only once the car has cooled down or warmed up. Prolonged exposed to extreme temperatures can damage the iPod.
- 5). Verify that the iPod is connecting to the unit. Power the iPod off, then connect the iPod to the adapter. As soon as the iPod is connected, the power automatically turns on. The word "Pioneer" or a check mark is displayed on the iPod screen.
- 6). Reset the iPod with the adapter. Disconnect the Pioneer's CD-IB100's iPod cable from the iPod. When the iPod's main menu appears, connect the cable again.
- 7). Interpret the error messages. "Error-11" means there is a communication failure between the adapter and iPod, reset the iPod with the adapter (as described in Step 6). "Error-21" means that the iPod is using a software version that is too old. Update the software on the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer, open iTunes and select the device name in the left pane, hit the "Summary" tab and hit "Check for updates." Be sure not to download a software version newer than version 2004-10-20.The message "Error-30" means there is an iPod failure. Reset the iPod; reset instructions vary per iPod model (see Resources). The message "No Track" means there are no songs on the iPod; use iTunes to transfer songs.
