Man of Many Crushes and the Resident Troublemaker
Damien Spinelli, Jason Morgan's former computer expert, managed to hack into one of the toughest entities there is: Maxie Jones, ex-slut, drug supplier, husband stealer, thief, liar, and heart transplant recipient.
After the murder of her beloved sister Georgie, Maxie reinvented herself, developing a strong friendship with the computer hacker, who was in love with Georgie.
She had the goal of a career in fashion and worked at Crimson Magazine for formidable fashionista Kate Howard.
Friendship Blossoms Into Love for Spinelli, and Maxie Sees the Light
Spinelli is in love with his petite, blue-eyed goddess, and while Maxie couldn't admit it for a long time, her feelings for him went beyond friendship.
Though the two make an odd couple, fans loved them together. There were rumblings that Maxie would become involved with either Johnny Zacchara or Matt Hunter. She did, for a time, have a relationship with Matt, marrying him to help him beat a murder rap. Matt went to prison anyway.
Spinelli proposed, and though Maxie wasn't ready, she couldn't bear to hurt him, so she accepted. When he found out that she was hesitant, the couple had an "un-wedding."
All was fine until Maxie was seduced by crazy artist Franco. After lots of on-again/off-again, Spinelli finally broke it off with Maxie for good.
Maxie seems to want Spinelli when it looks like he might be interested in someone else -- and that someone else was Ellie Trout, a lab technician at General Hospital.
She and Spinelli fell in love.
Surrogacy
Maxie, meanwhile, agreed to act as surrogate for Lulu and Dante. Spinelli later had a conversation with Ellie when he learned that she did not want children.
Maxie miscarried, and in her depression, she and Spinelli made love. When she went to Dr Westbourne hoping to be reimplanted so that she could fulfill her surrogacy for Dante and Lulu, she was told she was already pregnant. Unwisely, she decided to tell no one and pretend the baby belonged to the couple.
As the pregnancy continued, Maxie bonded more and more with the baby she was carrying. By the time she gave birth, Lulu and Dante were uncomfortable with her being around what they believed was their baby, named Connie. They felt that their surrogate was confused, since she acted as if the baby was actually hers.
Maxie finally confessed to Spinelli. He was incensed. He was even more incensed when he found out that Ellie had known all along. However, both agreed to say nothing to Dante and Lulu, who were so thrilled to have Connie.
The day of the christening, Brad, the head of the lab, told the family and friends gathered at the ceremony the truth. The couple denied it, but eventually, they had to admit that indeed, Connie is their baby.
Custody Battle
A custody battle raged between the two couples, once good friends, now on opposite sides.
An unsympathetic Judge awarded custody to Spinelli, and Maxie was forbidden to see her daughter for a period of time, after which the sitation would be re-evaluated. Spinelli and Ellie moved to Oregon, where Ellie had a new job.
Over time, Maxie and Lulu reconciled. One of their embryos had been implanted into Britt Westbourne, and she had given birth to a boy. Lulu and Dante gained custody, naming their child Rocco.
Now, Spinelli and Ellie have parted ways, Spinelli is back in Port Charles, and Maxie is allowed to see her baby. Spinelli wants to be with Maxie again and be a family. Maxie now is in love with Nathan West. She admits that she still has feelings for Spinelli. What will she ultimately decide?
