A toy is something that you play with for a short period of time, but a hobby is something that holds your interest for a very long time.
Think back to when you were a child.
Do you remember your first tricycle followed by your bicycle, followed by your motorcycle, and then the car? Do you remember your crayons, followed by your watercolors, acrylics, and then oil painting? Do you remember your hand stitching doll dresses, then you made your own skirt, then you made a dress and today you sew many of your children's clothing or your own? I started baking cookies at age eight when my parents would leave the house and I would surprise them with baked goodies when they arrived home.
Then at age twelve I made cakes and pies.
At age sixteen I finally had the strength to knead breads and discovered I loved baking breads which I have continued throughout my life.
Really think about this for a moment.
Our hobbies and interests are what we love and pursue.
The everyday hobby activities of your life which you take for granted may be great hobbies to many other people.
Why not consider your craft hobbies becoming your occupation? Rather than working a job that you are dissatisfied or dread going to everyday, find an employer who would hire you for your hobby ideas or your hobby skills or consider opening your own business with your best hobby.
Some people who hesitate because their hobby is something that they love and they fear that once it becomes a business they will not be able to capture that love again.
Not true, not true.
I have found that you will love it more because your hobby will reward you with more than you could ever anticipate or imagine.
You will never lose your first love; you will find more.
A hobby turned business is like a married couple getting started, then the children are born - so are other hobbies, the children grow - so does your business.
Your children move on and marry - your business develops other products from the original hobbies list.
I have discovered that self employment is dependent on your abilities and knowledge as a business person.
I am sure you excel at your hobbies and interests likewise you need to strengthen your business knowledge.
Financial success is dependent on your advertising, marketing and salesmanship expertise.
