Halloween Party Brain Food Ideas

  Halloween parties are filled with spooky fun, whether for adults or for children. Refreshments are a crucial part of any party, and Halloween refreshments should reflect the feeling of the day. Ghoulish food in the shape of brains will surprise guests coming to the table. Prepare appetizers, main dishes and even desserts in squishy shapes to repulse your party guests and give them food to remember.
  
  

Hannibal Dip

• Make a thick, cream cheese-based spread like chili-cheese or pimento. Take off the top of a plastic skull and line the interior with plastic wrap. Mold the spread into a brain shape and place it in the skull. Smooth over the mound of spread and use a spoon handle to carve lines in the surface to simulate the brain structure. Place the dip-filled skull on a tray and place the top of the skull back on. Surround the skull with crackers and two knives for serving. When it's time to eat, remove the top of the skull a la Hannibal Lecter and serve.
  
  

Mashed Brains

• Purchase a brain-shaped gelatin mold. Mix together instant mashed potatoes and place them in the mold. Turn onto a decorative tray and serve with "bloody" barbecue pork.
  
  

Melon Brain

• Slice off the bottom of a small, round watermelon so that it will stand still on a tray. Use a vegetable peeler to remove all the green skin, leaving the white part behind. Use a toothpick to trace a brain shape on the surface. Cut out the channels and crevices to create the lumps and dips that make a brain shape.
  
  

Brain Cupcakes

• Use a commercial cake mix to make red velvet cupcakes. Mix one drop of red and one drop of black food coloring in with commercial white frosting. This will turn the frosting a sort of pink/gray color. Cut the corner from a plastic bag to make a pastry bag. Spoon the frosting into the bag and squeeze the bag to make the frosting come out onto the cupcakes. Frost the cupcakes in squiggle patterns to simulate the bumps in a brain.
