Things to Know Before You Pet a Puppy
Kids will just love to play with them too.
They can be great pets to have at the fun but you need to be aware of a few key facts about them before you can actually bring them home.
You need to know how to take good care of them.
The first thing you'll see when bringing a new pet to your home is that the pet may find the new environment uncomfortable.
It may be due to the fact that the pet misses one's previous environment or the caring touch of a mother.
It takes a while to get used to it so if you find your pet down or upset, don't expect the pet to follow what you say.
Your dog will start to mix with you and the new environment over time.
And soon, you will find your new best friend wanting to play with you.
All pets expect lots of care and love from you, which in the end strengthen the bonding.
This attachment develops as they grow up.
Baby dogs require lots of attention and affection.
You need to be very careful when placing them in your arms.
It's better to leave them on their way as they are rather soft at first.
Squeezing hard or pulling their tails may hurt them and cause them to become injured.
Just like a human baby, they are also sensitive at an early age to light and sound.
If you place something in front of the dog's mouth then it will probably lick or bite it.
This is why you should never place any soft toys or other hard objects in front of the dog.
Once your dog starts growing then it will gradually stop chewing or licking items that it shouldn't be in contact with.
You also have to train your dog to use the bathroom the right way.
Don't shout or get mad if you find your dog relieving itself inside your house.
Remember, these are little dogs that have yet to mature and they don't know what is right or wrong.
You must teach them what's right.
If you notice your dog getting into any unusual activities then place the dog in your yard.
After a while, the little puppy will come to realize why it's there.
Initially, you can let the puppy do its business on newspapers and other stuff that you can afford to throw out.
You need to provide your pet with foods that do not affect its health if you want the dog to grow up right.
It is recommended that you do not allow any dog to eat hard stuff like chicken and fish bones.
Rather, you can provide your dog with soft foods like puffed rice with a bit of sugar-free milk.
Avoiding feeding sugar to your dog as sugar may cause worms to develop inside the pet's stomach.
You can always discuss other concerns that you might have with a doctor or anyone with puppies in one's house.
Be sure to provide your new dog with a good environment and plenty of care.
Remember, bringing a puppy home is a wonderful experience as a little doggie like this may become your best pal over time.
