- 1). Get together your employment history for the past 18 months, including the amount you made at each employer, as well as your Social Security number and driver's license number. If you want your benefits payments sent via direct deposit, you also need your banking information.
- 2). Visit any Georgia Department of Labor Career Center to submit your initial application for unemployment benefits in Georgia. Use the Georgia Department of Labor website (see Resources) to find a location near you.
- 3). Claim your benefits weekly for each week that you remain unemployed. You can do so at any Labor Career Center, on the Georgia Department of Labor website (see Resources) or by phone on the automated system, which is called OLIVoR. The OLIVoR number for metro Atlanta is 404-232-4290 and elsewhere you can call 866-873-5676.
