How to Rotate a Video in Windows Media Player

    • 1). Download and install Windows Movie Maker. Movie Maker is available for free at Microsoft.com. Find the version designed for your operating system and download it to your computer. Double-click the downloaded file, then follow the provided prompts to install the software on your machine.

    • 2). Open the file you want to edit. After the installation process completes, launch the Movie Maker application. Click the "Start" button, then "Programs" > "Windows Live" > "Windows Live Movie Maker." With the program open, click the "File" menu near the top-left corner of the screen and select "Open Project." Find the file you want to edit. Open it by double-clicking its icon.

    • 3). Rotate your video. Find the tools on the menu at the top of the screen labeled "Rotate left 90 degrees." Click this button as many times as necessary to rotate the movie to the desired orientation. When finished, click the "File" menu, select "Save Movie," then choose your desired quality level. Choose the location on your computer where the Movie Maker should save the file, then click "Save."

    • 4). View your video in Media Player. Open the file you just edited in Windows Media Player. The video will now play with the correct orientation.
