How to Build a Bed

People often choose to build a bed instead of buying one as it is sometimes cheaper to do things yourself.
However, if you have never built a bed before it can be a tricky task.
This is not something that you are going to put together quickly as you want to make sure that it is sturdy enough for someone to sleep on.
Below is a list of instructions on how to build a bed that are easy to follow.
You will have your bed together in no time.
Before you get started there are certain things that you need to purchase before you start building your bed.

You will need bedrail hangers, wood and wood screws.
If you cannot find bedrail hangers than you can also try using eight long lag bolts.
These materials can be purchased at your local hardware store.

You might not be able to find your wood in the exact dimensions that you need so you need to make sure that you have a power saw so that you can cut the wood if needed.

Now that you have everything you need you can start putting your bed together.
To start you can secure the bedrail hangers to the end of the side rail and head post.
This will need to be repeated for all four corners.

Then you screw the support rail to each side of the rail.
It is a good idea to space your screws correctly to make sure that all areas are going to be supported.
The recommended spacing is about thirty centimeters apart.

Attach each support and block the center of the head rail and foot rail using your screws.

The support blocks will have to have groves cut into them so that they can be fitted together with the support beams.
Once this is done you can insert the support beams in the support blocks.
Repeat for all sides until you have the frame together.

You are almost finished.
Now all you have to do is place a piece of plywood on the support rails and the support beam.
The plywood should be cut so that it can fit into the inner part of the bed frame.
From here you can add your mattress and bedding and the bed is complete.
