How to Prime and Paint Metal Outdoor Furniture

    • 1). Wash the metal outdoor furniture with a degreasing cleaner, using a rough sponge. Rinse the furniture, using a hose, and wait at least two hours before proceeding.

    • 2). Cover all portions of the outdoor furniture that are to remain unpainted with masking paper, available at paint and home-improvement stores.

    • 3). Coat the metal furniture with etching spray primer. Maintain an 8-inch distance as you apply, or the primer may sag. Wait three hours before proceeding.

    • 4). Coat the primed metal furniture with acrylic spray enamel. Keep the can 8 inches from the furniture as you spray. Wait three hours before using the metal furniture.
