Nikon Camo Binoculars - Does Camoflage Determine Performance?
Determining the correct level of magnification for the activity you are mostly going to be using the binoculars for will ensure the best level of binocular performance for you out in the field.
Different magnification strengths suit different types of activities - consider the following to help you decide on the best choice for your activity:
- 7x Magnification: Very good for viewing closer objects, field of view is very wide, image is very stable when holding binoculars.
- 8x Magnification: An excellent strength for all purpose viewing of large and small game, birds, scenery and outdoor activities in all light conditions and for general use by most people.
It is a good trade off between 7x and higher magnifications. - 10x Magnification: Good for viewing more distant objects like small game and birds in good lighting conditions, but field of view is a lot smaller and it is more difficult to keep the image steady in the hands.
- 12x Magnification: Well suited to viewing very distant objects like small game and birds, distant scenery, planets, stars and galaxies, but image is very difficult to keep still if you do not have steady hands.
This magnification is bordering on telescopic, so using a tripod to keep the image steady is recommended.
