Updated June 10, 2015.

SARS case counts continue to rise, with most new cases being reported in China. There are now 254 suspected and probable cases in the United States, and 4649 probable cases worldwide. Of these cases, most people recovered, although 6% of people with SARS, in 26 countries, didn't.

Of the 39 probable cases in the United States, 37 occurred in travelers to parts of the world where SARS transmission is occurring, one occurred in a health care worker, and one was a household contact.

So there is still no evidence of community spread.

Travel Advisory Update

The World Health Organization has updated their SARS travel warnings, postponing all but essential travel, to include Beijing and Shanxi Province in China and to Toronto Canada. This extends the previous warning about traveling to Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Guangdong Province, China.
The CDC is 'not including Toronto in the list of countries where travel restrictions are appropriate.'

2007 SARS Update

According to the CDC, as of May 2005, 'currently, there is no known SARS transmission anywhere in the world. The most recent human cases of SARS-CoV infection were reported in China in April 2004 in an outbreak resulting from laboratory-acquired infections.' For the latest on SARS, visit:
