How to Make a String of Presidential Stars to Celebrate President's Day
- 1). Divide the students up in to three groups. Each group is going to be responsible for 14 presidents. That leaves one president for the teacher or home instructor.
- 2). Give one group red construction paper. Give the next group white construction paper. Give the third group blue construction paper.
- 3). Show students how to cut out stars by demonstrating in on the chalk board and then on your own construction paper. Have the students follow and cut out their fourteen stars.
- 4). Hand each group a set of fourteen presidential faces. These should have been printed out from the Internet or photocopied from your textbook. You keep the first or the last president.
- 5). Cut out the president's faces and glue them to the stars.
- 6). Write the president's number on the back of the star. For example, George Washington would have a 1, while Abraham Lincoln would have a 16.
- 7). Give each group a hole puncher and have them punch a hole in the top of each star.
- 8). Start threading your yarn or string through the holes in each president in order.
- 9). Tie one end of the yarn or string to one side of the room and the other end of the yarn or string to the other side of the room.
