Collectibles Insurance Services has been in business since 1966 and is the place to go for insuring paper collections, stamps were the first collectibles they insured. The company insures collections from autographs to zippos.

Insurables Include:
Advertising collectibles, antique furniture and radios/phonographs, antique tools, art(comic/animation/prints/lithographs), bears, books, coin operated devices, coins, comics, dolls, entertainment/memorabilia, fine arts, glass/pottery, limited edition items, musical instruments (except electric), Native American, outdoor collectibles, paper/ephemera, sewing, sports, stamps, taxidermy, toys, trains, vintage clothing, weapons (including guns, knives, swords and their accessories), western Americana/political memorabilia, and writing instruments.

Not Insured:
Jewelry, antique/classic automobiles and motorcycles.

Coverage:
The policy provides for most causes of loss unless specifically excluded. Covered causes of loss include but are not limited to mail loss, theft, fire, flooding, natural disasters, and breakage.

The policy does not cover loss of value, nor damage from dampness (such as paper being stored in a basement) or damage from pests or rodents.

Deductibles:
There is no deductible, but claim must be a minimum of $50.

Rates:
The rates vary as to the type of collection that is insured.
  • Stamps $48 for $10,0000
  • Collectibles $61. for $10,000
  • Weapons $71. for $10,000
Additional dollar coverage varies as to the amount needed, with discounts for alarm systems and/or a safe with a combination lock.
Inventory:
Although collectors are encouraged to have an inventory and pictures of their collection, these are not submitted at the time of application. The only items that are individually listed are pieces valued at over $5,000. each.

Pairs, Multi-Piece and Packaging Coverage:
When a pair is broken up by loss or breakage (including breaking a lid on a cookie jar) the adjuster would determine the value just prior to loss and after and customer would receive that loss in value.

Policies are underwritten by Lloyds of London and has an insurance rating of A for excellent.
