As a retired adult, it's sometimes hard to find ways to get out and do fun things and meet new friends.
Sanibel residents certainly don't have this problem, as there is a local organization that provides plenty of opportunities for fitness, travel, and social gatherings.
The Center 4 Life Program is a wonderful way to meet people, participate in fun activities, and learn about fitness and relaxation techniques.
The motto, "Enriching the Lives of Adults," says everything about what these programs are trying to do for those in the prime of life.
Each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, members can start their mornings off right with a meditation session at 8:30am, followed by a 9am class including a mix of low-impact aerobics and balance, strength and flexibility exercises.
Following this class on Mondays and Wednesdays, there is an 11am "Gentle Yoga" session especially designed for seniors.
Organized games like Bridge and Mah Johngg are held throughout the week, and there are prizes for winners of the games.
"Discovering Florida Day Trips" are a great way to see places you may not have had the chance to explore.
The 2010-2011 season at the Florida Repertory Theater promises to be filled with great performances.
Members of the Center 4 Life can sign up for 2pm Saturday matinees for only $21.
Early sign ups are required to ensure tickets are bought in a timely manner.
There may be brunch or dinner trips before or after the play, depending on the size of the group.
Besides these local productions, there are also opportunities to join fellow Center members at the Barbara B.
Mann Theater for the Broadway Season, which starts in November.
The season kickoff will see 105 members in attendance for a matinee showing of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
The Broadway Season is packed with such classics as West Side Story and South Pacific.
Along with these awesome trips and classes, the Center hosts classes and seminars on several topics of interest.
These may include instruction on certain Internet and computer programs and art classes.
To kick off the holiday season the right way, a Holiday Bazaar will be held on November 20th, 2010 at the Center.
It will include arts and crafts for sale as well as secondhand items.
