The Honda XL175 is a sport motorcycle offered from 1973 to 1978 that was designed for both tarmac and light off-road use. To that end, it has basic features and a relatively small engine and frame in order to maintain versatility. - The XL175 is equipped with a single cylinder 173cc four-stroke engine. This is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Both were standard equipment on all XL175 model years. The engine lacked an electric starter and could only be initiated by the motorcycle's kick-starter.
- The 1973 XL175 was offered in one color scheme, named Mars Orange, which colored the bike's gas tank sides orange and gave the bike a black stripe. Front and rear fenders were made of plastic and painted silver. The XL175 is 82 inches in length, 33 inches in width and 43 inches in height.
- From 1973 through 1976, the XL175 was equipped with both a speedometer and tachometer at the front instrument panel. However, the tachometer was removed after the 1976 model year. The only other instruments on the panel were the bike's turn signals. Braking was handled by front and rear drum brakes controlled by handlebar levers.
