How to Fix Blemishes in Pictures
- 1). Load the picture you want to fix onto your computer. You will want to scan it in using a high setting on your scanner (600 dots per inch or so).
- 2). Start Photoshop. Select "File" and click "Open." A dialog will open. Browse to find the file you scanned in and select it.
- 3). Select the "Patch" tool from the toolbar. In the options at the top, set it to "Source." Draw a selection around one of the larger blemishes. Now drag the selection to an area of the image that is similar in appearance to what the area you selected would look like if it wasn't damaged. The tool will automatically blend in the patch.
- 4). Repeat Step 3 for all the larger blemishes in your picture.
- 5). For the smaller spots, select the "Clone" tool from the toolbar. Adjust the size of the tool in the toolbar, making it fairly small to match the smaller spots in your picture.
- 6). Use the tool to deal with the smaller blemishes and spots. Simply hold down the "ALT" key on your keyboard and click near (but not on) one of the spots you want to fix. Now click on the spot and draw over it. Photoshop will use the area you selected as a reference point. Continue the process of repairing the smaller spots, selecting a new reference point for each one.
- 7). Select "File" when you are done and click "Save." In the dialog, name your file and select the location you want to save it to. Change the "Format" to JPEG and click "Save".
- 8). Print out your repaired picture on a quality photo paper.
